Congratulations to Nikhil Sundaram, 4th Year, on his selection at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2026 to present his project 'Biochar Boost – Can Biochar enhance soil fertility and store carbon?' at the Science for Development Showcase yesterday in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Iveagh House, Dublin. We were delighted to welcome Commissioner Michael McGrath to CBC on Friday to launch our Zambia Immersion Project Chaser fundraiser. Commissioner McGrath addressed an assembly of students and parents, spoke about the importance of our participation in developing world issues and highlighted Irish and European Union support for Zambia in areas such as education, healthcare and trade.

Congratulations to the CBC Rowing Team on their performance at the London Head of the River Race last Friday. The crew delivered an excellent time, a fitting reflection of the hours of training, dedication and commitment invested throughout the season. Sincere thanks also to their coach, Tanya Clifford, Rowing Coordinator Marie Casey and Donal Cronin, Captain of Cork Boat Club, for their support in facilitating the race.

The College was delighted to welcome Cork City players Matthew Murray and AJ Bridge ahead of our U19 National Cup Final which takes place tomorrow in Tralee. Matthew and AJ shared their thoughts on preparation for the game and wished the team well.

Congratulations to Cian McDonnell, 5th Year, who recently qualified for the Irish Schools Golf Final after finishing among the top four golfers at the Munster qualifiers in Monkstown. The Irish Schools Final will take place in Lucan Golf Club on Monday, 27 April. We wish him the very best of luck.

Best of luck to Evan Cullen, 5th Year, who will travel to the US this week as part of the Irish U17 Ice Hockey team to compete in the Green Ice tournament in Michigan.

Congratulations to Ward Hamam, 2nd Year, who enjoyed great success at the Munster Taekwondo Open Tournament recently. Ward achieved Gold for Best Power and Technique (Age 14-18 Category) and Silver for Sparring (52-58kg Category). Ward will be competing in the Taekwondo World Cup in Spain in September.

Congratulations to Harry Walsh, 5th Year Music student, who represented CBC at the Interschools Music Festival in Wesley College, Dublin on Saturday. He was awarded 1st Place in the Woodwind O16 (Rice Cup) Category, performing “Bozza’s Aria” on saxophone in a highly competitive category of 15 students.

Congratulations to Sixth Year students Guan Hui Lin, Alessandro Siynardi, Luke MacMullan and Ethan Wyse, who secured an impressive 3rd Place overall at the Team Maths Regional Final last Thursday. The competition consisted of a challenging team quiz based on the Leaving Certificate Mathematics course, bringing together 37 teams from schools across the region. CBC was strongly represented on the day with four teams competing. Well done to all involved.

Well done to our U19 Soccer Squad who reached the Dr Tony O'Neill National Cup Senior Final after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over an excellent Wexford CBS side with goals from Liam Lynch, Finn Dalton and Max Murphy.

Congratulations to our Senior Team, who were crowned Barry Cup champions after a thrilling 20-19 victory over PBC yesterday. Well done to all players and staff involved.

Congratulations to George O'Mahony, 6th Year, whose film 'Dearg Díreach' (Straight Red) has been accepted for the First Cut Youth Festival in Youghal. George's film will be screened theatrically today at the Mall Arts Theatre. 'Dearg Díreach' was made entirely through Irish and premiered here in CBC last May. Comhghairdeas arís.

Congratulations to four CBC students who recently achieved top honours in the Final Round of the International Youth Math Challenge. John Murphy, 3rd Year, was awarded the Gold Honour which recognises achievement in the top 2% among the 9800 participants globally. Congratulations to Darren O'Connell, 5th Year, who represented his club with distinction at the Munster Juvenile Indoor Athletics Competition held at Nenagh Olympic Stadium recently. Darren won silver in the U19 400m and will go on to compete at the National Championships in Athlone at the end of March. We wish him the very best of luck.

Well done to Fifth Year student ambassadors Cathal Lyons, Conor O'Loughlin and Leon O'Connell who represented CBC in Geneva last week on a social justice and advocacy trip. The delegation visited the Red Cross Museum learning about humanitarian aid in areas that have suffered through such conflicts and genocides. They also attended a session of the Human Rights Council at the UN. This was followed by a visit to the Edmund Rice International Offices where the students engaged

Well done to the 12 students who represented CBC in the Irish Schools Team Racing Munster Championships in Schull last Friday. The event was hosted by the Fastnet Marine & Outdoor Education Centre and we offer a huge congratulations to Team CBC A, which placed 3rd overall. Well done to our First and Second Year Choir members (pictured with Bishop Fintan Gavin) who performed at 'Maranatha' in City Hall last Thursday, a concert organised by the Diocese of Cork & Ross. Maranatha brings together over 400 post-primary students from across the Diocese to celebrate faith through music and song. A special word of congratulations to Killian O'Loughlin, Second Year, on his solo performances of 'My Lighthouse' and the closing number 'Amen.'

Congratulations to all our cast, crew and support team from Transition Year whose final performance of 'The Plough and the Stars' took place last night. We were proud of every student whose hard work and dedication helped to bring Sean O’ Casey’s play to life, from our actors to our set and programme designers.
