Congratulations to all our award recipients from our inaugural Sports Awards which took place last evening. The event showcased achievement across a wide range of sports at school, county, national and international level. Guest speaker on the night was Performance Coach and Sports Psychologist Mr Kevin Clancy. Thanks to everyone who helped make the occasion a great success.

Congratulations to past pupil Charlie O’Shea on his selection for the Munster squad in their first United Rugby Championship match of the 2026/27 season. Fresh from an excellent debut last weekend vs Leicester Tigers, Charlie is in line to make his competitive debut vs Glasgow Warriors this Saturday evening in Thomond Park with kick-off at 5:30pm. Wishing Charlie and the Munster team the very best of luck from all at CBC.

Congratulations to Harry Walsh, Sixth Year, who was chosen to take part in masterclasses hosted by The National Concert Hall last Friday on Culture night, featuring renowned UK saxophonist Jess Gillam.

Congratulations to past pupils Rob Downey and Shane Barrett on their nominations for this year's PwC Hurling All-Star awards. Both Rob and Shane previously won All-Star awards in 2024. We wish them the very best of luck.

Congratulations and best of luck to Tom Russell, First Year, who has been selected to represent Munster in the U14 Tennis Interpros taking place at Douglas Lawn Tennis Club this weekend.

Congratulations to Conal Gillard, 6th Year, who represented Ireland at the U19 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, during the summer. Conal competed in the Junior Men's Four.

Congratulations to Cian McDonnell, 6th Year, on a superb run of success on the golf course over the summer months including 2nd place and leading qualifier (-8) at the Leinster U18, winner of the Munster Pennant at the Munster Junior Foursomes in Monkstown Golf Club, selection for the Munster U18 Interprovincial Team, an All-Ireland Junior Foursomes silver medal and victory at the Kerry Boys Championship, where he also claimed the prize for Best Gross score.

Well done to the CBC students who represented Cove Sailing Club, Royal Cork Yacht Club, and Monkstown Bay Sailing Club at the RS National Championships at Killaloe Sailing Club recently. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 on the outstanding Leaving Cert results which they received this morning. We are hugely proud of all our students’ success and wish them the very best as they await the first round of CAO offers next Wednesday. 8 students attained the maximum 625 points including two with 8 H1s and three with 7 H1s. Congratulations to Darragh Cantillon, 4th Year, and Matthew Thompson, 3rd Year, on their selection to play on the U18 Interprovincial Munster Team in Templeleogue Tennis Club last weekend.

Congratulations to Dónal O'Connor, 6th Year, on his recent signing for Brentford Football Club. During his time at CBC, Dónal was a key member of soccer squads, playing his final game for the College in March and winning the Dr Tony O'Neill National Cup. We wish Dónal every success going forward.

Congratulations to Bobby Power, 5th Year, who has been included in the 2026 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Hurling Team. Electric Ireland celebrates 15 standout players from this season's spectacular Minor Hurling campaign defined by outstanding individual skill.

Congratulations to Rossa Kinirons, Harry Quinlan, Christian Murphy, Ruaidhri McElwain, Tiernan Murphy and Hugh Downey on their selection to represent Munster in the upcoming U18 Schools PWC Age-Grade Interprovincial Series.

Congratulations to past pupils Charlie O’Shea and Christopher Barrett on their selection to start for Irish Rugby U20s in the opening match of this year’s World Rugby U20 Championship. Ireland take on England this Saturday in Tbilisi, with kick-off at 12:30pm. Wishing Charlie, Christopher and all the Irish squad the very best of luck.

Congratulations to Matt Mapplebeck, 4th Year, on his selection to represent Ireland at the Youth Match Racing World Championships which will be held in Denmark from 21-25 June. Matt will then sail for Ireland at the 420 World Championships in France from 3-11 July. In recent weeks, Matt and his teammate have won the Irish Youth Nationals in the 420 class, the 420 Munster Championships and the 420 Ulster Championships. Matt also represented Ireland at the Italian Championships

Congratulations to our Senior 4x400m Relay team of Fifth Year students Darren O'Connell, Cathal Walsh, Jack Cantillon and Eoin Brennan on finishing in third place at the All-Ireland Track and Field Championships in Tullamore last weekend.
