Junior Cycle

“Pupils in Christian Brothers College follow a three year programme of studies at Junior Cycle. The learning and personal growth during these formative years lay the foundation for a successful and productive Senior Cycle

First Year

An essential element of the CBC experience is our dedicated First Year area.

Care of our new First Year pupils is key to laying the foundations for a successful secondary school life.

From their first days in the College, our goal is to welcome our new students and support them as they settle in to secondary school life and form new friendships.

We encourage them to develop a loyalty to CBC through active involvement in all aspects of school life.  This lays the foundation for a happy, productive and successful school experience.

The transition from Primary to Secondary school for our First Year students is facilitated through a number of key supports:

  • An on-site Year Head who works exclusively with First Year pupils

  • A dedicated Mentor teacher programme on timetable

  • Organised lunch time activities such as Art, Chess and Soccer leagues

  • Youth Leadership support from our Fifth Year Meitheal team

  • Organised activities including weekly Heritage field trip

  • Timetabled Guidance class
