Young Scientist Exhibition 2026

Best of luck to thirteen students from First to Fifth Year who will represent CBC this week at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2026, showcasing a wide range of disciplines across the year groups. Their entries reflect a balance of individual and team projects, practical innovation, and rigorous scientific inquiry. The boys will present prototypes, experiments, and data-driven insights that highlight CBC’s strong commitment to STEM and student-led investigation.

 

1. Cillian Ó’ Ríordáin (Third Year - Intermediate Technology) - NextStep: Adaptive Study Algorithms for Reducing Junior Cert Decision Fatigue

2. Finn Harnedy (Fourth Year - Intermediate Technology) - Ignition Protocol: A genetic fuel algorithm

3. Oisín Bosz, Cillian Power and Ewan Twohig (First Year - Junior Chemical, Physical & Mathematical Sciences) - Keys Vs Strings: Which Produces More Harmonic Overtones; Piano or Viola?

4. Nikhil Sundaram (Fourth Year - Intermediate Biological & Ecological) - Biochar Boost - Can Biochar enhance soil fertility and store carbon?

5. Ben Dwyer, Darragh O’ Mullane, Oisín Sheehan (First Year - Junior Chemical, Physical & Mathematical) - Using an automatic irrigation system to improve crop production

6. Cathal Lyons and Raed Muhammed Naseer (Fifth years Senior - Social & Behavioural Sciences) - Launching Ireland's Future: Astronomy for the Leaving Certificate

7. Ibrihim Muhammed Naseer (Second Year Junior - Social & Behavioural Sciences) - Think Before You Flush, Brush, Wash

8. Ruairí Golden (Second Year Junior - Social & Behavioural Sciences) - Why do people fear insects?
