South Munster Track and Field Championships

Well done to all students who competed at the second day of the South Munster Track & Field Championships at MTU Cork yesterday. There were fine CBC performances on display throughout the day, winning many medals across multiple events.

Vihaan Nayak (2nd Year) took home two bronze medals after strong performances in the 100m and 200m junior finals.

Henry Hussey (2nd Year) finished in 2nd place in both the 100m and 200m inter finals, qualifying for the Munster Track & Field Championships.

In the Junior 4x100m relay, the team of Henry Hussey, Vihaan Nayak, Luc O'Connell and Andrew Barrett claimed 3rd place in the finals.

Harry Walsh (5th Year) earned a silver medal for his performance in the High Jump.

Darren O'Connell (5th Year) won bronze medals in both the 200m and 400m finals.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing both our senior relay teams put in outstanding performances:

4x100m Relay: The team of Eoin Brennan, Jack Cantillon, Darren O'Connell and Cathal Walsh finished on the podium in 3rd place, bringing home four bronze medals for CBC.

4x400m Relay: CBC were dominant in the final, finishing in both 1st and 3rd place. Congratulations to Eoin Brennan, Jack Cantillon, Darren O'Connell and Cathal Walsh on winning gold with a finish time of 3:46. The team now progresses to the Munster Track & Field Championships.

Our second senior relay team earned bronze in an exciting 4x400m relay final. Well done to Fionn Conway, Dean Mangan Williams, Ben O'Mahony and Harry Walsh.

A fantastic effort from all students who competed yesterday. We wish them the best of luck in the upcoming Munster Track & Field Championships taking place on Saturday, 16 May in Castleisland.
