Parents Council

The CBC Parents' Council is the representative body of parents in the college. Partnership is the key to success in education. The parents' council seeks to enhance the positive experience of education for young people in a spirit of co-operation with all the educational partners. The council is elected by the parents of students attending the college, and meets monthly. Its role is advisory and consultative, providing a home-school link and helping the school to provide wider opportunities for the involvement of parents generally.

The following are the members of the council for the academic year 2006/2007.

Chairperson - Thomas Hunter McGowan
Secretary - Gillian O'Kelly
Treasurer - Conal Courtney
P.R.O. - David Hill/ Caroline Akiboye Connolly
School Liason - David Lordon
Council Members - Mary Coleman, Owen Crotty, Ger Fitzgearld, John McSweeney, Myriam O'Connor, Mairead Mc Whinney, Ian O'Dowling, Ann Marie Kenny

The council has been working on a number of projects since its establishment. It organised a Careers exhibition in the college in September for all senior cycle students and ran a Drugs Awareness evening for parents in October. Current projects include the organisation of a talk for parents on internet safety and a Drugs workshop for Second Year students and parents which will be held in April. The council aims to improve awareness of its work among parents through a newsletter to be distributed throughout the year.
