SCHOOL TOURS:
The year 2007-08 was a memorable one for tours. For the fourth successive year CBC embarked on a week long ski trip during the February mid-term. The venue this year was Folgaria ski resort in northern Italy. Fifty fourth year pupils and five teachers braved the elements for what was a memorable week of skiing. With a large number of beginners in the group, a degree of nervousness was felt the first morning. However, these fears were misplaced as the boys took to skiing with ease, and soon passed out some of the more experienced skiers in the group. The boys attended ski school each day for four hours, with a little practice time at the end of each day. In the evenings the boys were also very busy with ice skating, tobogganing and a ski extravaganza just some of the activities. All in all, it was an action packed week and one that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
The most exotic tour was that undertaken by 44 senior pupils and four teachers who headed for China for a week in March. There were many highlights including a visit to the Great Wall and the Silk Market. The boys can stake a small claim to have made history, as they participated in the first ever St Patrick’s Day parade in Beijing and consequently appeared in both Irish and Chinese television.
The junior pupils also had an exciting trip to look back on at the end of the year. Forty of them, accompanied by five teachers travelled to Los Angeles and San Francisco during the Easter break.
