24 May 2007: CBC Orchestra & Choir (End of Year Roundup 06/07)
2006/’07 was another hectic and musically exciting year for the C.B.C. Orchestra and Choir, which started with the performance at the First Year Orientation Mass at the beginning of the year.
Our next event was the College Open Night, where the Orchestra entertained the hundreds of potential students and their parents as they came in to view the College. Before long preparations and rehearsals for the Annual Christmas Concert began to take place, culminating in the big night itself. The newly elected P.P.U. President Mr Eamon Muldoon ‘lit’ the Christmas Star and then the carols and fun began. There was a record number of students in the Choir this year – forty five in all – and over twenty five students in the Orchestra. As usual Santa and his little (big!) helpers were the most popular guests at the Christmas Concert.
Rehearsals began again in the New Year on a regular basis and before long the sounds of music echoed along the Canteen Corridor. The Orchestra and Choir performed at the Blessed Edmund Rice Feast Day Mass, First Year Mass, Graduation Mass, Edmund Rice Awards Ceremony, Holy Communion and First Confirmation.
All in all, a very full and rewarding year was had!
